Today, the final pieces were installed on the doors for the fire test. The installation has gone amazingly smooth without any insurmountable surprises.
The test should begin tomorrow morning. We have to be there at 8 and the test should start by 9. If all goes well, it may be finished just after 12.
This afternoon after dropping the superintendent who led the installation off at the airport, Rob and I did a little sight seeing in Chicago. We were able to see a bit of downtown Chicago. The buildings are really quite pretty in Chicago. I will post some pictures sometime after I get home. We went up to the John Hancock Observatory and then had a nice lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. The view from the top was hidden on three sides by clouds, but we did see out (the west side I think) down to the ground. We also read about Chicago's growth as a city in a display up in the Observatory.
This afternoon, I've been catching up on my blog reading. I'm now using Google's reader so I won't miss anything - Thanks Elijah for suggesting the reader! I read one of Josh Harris's new posts and then scrolled down and read many of the older posts that I never actually read before. I found this one about online dating interesting as I have used eharmony in the past. It brings up some good advice in the pastoral counsel section.

Glad to hear you are able to see the sites while in Chicago. When out of town on work assignments, I find that I tend to work much longer days and rarely take advantage of being in a new place. This is partly because company trips are usually too short for the amount of work needing to be accomplished. I think the other reason is because I am usually alone and don't feel safe about traveling around I city I'm not familiar with.
A few years ago, I was traveling to Houston every other week to help my boss transition to our Houston office. While going back and forth wasn't pleasant, the many trips gave me time to learn my way around and learn to venture out more. One time, my boss also made the trip and he invited me to come along with his family to a Houston Astros game at Minute Maid Park. It was my first (and only so far) major league baseball game. It was alot of fun.

It was fun to see the sights! I definitely prefer to look around a new place if someone else is there so I'm glad Rob and I both had to be there for the test. When I went to San Antonio last year, I went alone and did get out some to walk around, but it was a little odd. We actually had a lot of free time since the guys at the testing lab left at 3pm so they "kicked us out" about that time. I usually spent the afternoon reading or resting and then we would all eat dinner somewhere later in the evening. I usually end up eating too much on trips, but this time wasn't as bad since I just about two meals each day.
